Here is the 100e directory
The 7z-file is so small I can attach it here directly

Hello Everybody!
Testing of CHDK with FW 100e IXUS 230 is returning strange (to me) results:
  • sometimes after some minutes of menu browsing in ALT mode, camera hangs
  • TV seems to work only randomly (i.e. with an override of 1/2000, during half press of button, I see on display "1/2000" only for some seconds, keeping holding, the shutter speed returns to be showed as "determined by camera SW" . Full press quickly during "1/2000" show doesn't change the behaviour. It seems that the flash settings can affect this behaviour.
  • Overlay in panorama mode is so distorted that is really hard to find synchronization. It changes color by itself, often to white or gray (hard to see). Compared to overlay in SDM with my PS A650IS, this is 10% efficient
Thanks to gurus for help and support. Hope this info could help to improve this alpha.

Hi, newbie here.

I've looked the board but couldn't find much mention of a port for FW 100a (although the dump is already on the site). Is there by any chance anyone working on it?
If not, how would I go about updating my firmware?

Thanks

If someone were working on 100a, it would likely be mentioned in this thread. Porting a new firmware version isn't a huge project, so maybe someone will pick it up.

Unfortunately there's no way to update the firmware unless Canon provides an update, and they usually do not.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I have 100a as well and am hoping someone would make a port for this version....

Anyone?

Ok, since it seems like no one else is working on it, I'd like to take it up: with any help I can get of course.

I'll go look through all the documentation on my own, but from what I've read so far, I'm not sure how to take advantage of other firmwares that have already been ported. Can someone perhaps point me in the right direction?

Porting to a new firmware version for a camera that already has successful ports is a whole lot easier than doing a complete new port.

The links fe50 posted are good but somewhat old - especially http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Adding_support_of_a_new_firmware_version

The release of CHDK-PT and the latest sigfinder make many of the steps listed there unnecessary.  Especially the part about using IDA.   The final link to CHDK-PT is a bit better (but I'm biased on that one).

In any case,   having the 100b firmware as a guide should help you a lot.

Incidentially - did anyone try just loading the CHDK 1.00b version onto a 1.00a camera ?  There was a suggestion earlier in this forum to do that but the response was unclear.

UPDATE : ran the sigfinder on both PRIMARY.BIN files ( 1.00a & 1.00b ).  They are quite different so loading 1.00b CHDK on a 1.00a camera will not work.

@rhaphazard
I was porting boot.c for 100a when I saw your post. You have access to camera, so I think that is better that you continue.

boot.c file in attachment is ported for 100a, it has only a few modifications, but maybe it helps you.

Thank you very much everyone!
I'll probably start working on this in a couple days.

See you when I'm done (or every time I have a problem).
