@quietschi
Great, which firmware version can I mark OK then, in my list ?  :D

@Barney
Darn, still not the right address ?? Don't understand, more IDA listing study ... :(
BTW, I second that proposal ... it scares me that sth. could go wrong ...

With the method I used, I saw my S5 do the same thing just before actually rebooting. http://stack.dataghost.com/s5reboot.avi This makes me wonder.. is it supposed to do this? It almost seems as if some important routines before rebooting are skipped... Still then, I haven't seen any example of a proper camera reboot from the original firmware, I guess this method is used only if the system crashes.

Oh yes, almost forgot... my lens does retract.

After some more playing with my cams (a620/a630) I came to the conclusion that they also don't react
properly in REC mode, so for the moment I've disabled rebooting in REC mode (since quietschi's i70 seems
to work OK, this might not be necessary for cams with a 'soft' REC/REVIEW switch) Also, I think it might
be necessary to first bring the cams in a state that resembles as much as possible 'Canon review mode',
which means to first end <CFG>, and then <ALT> state, before issueing the actual cold_reboot command.

@Dataghost
Which jump address are you using on your cam ? And do you do any 'housekeeping' before jumping ?

Updated Cold_reboot.txt (v4) attached

later,

wim
