This (and switching to Record mode) can be done in a number of ways.

Does anyone know the methods for VxWorks and Dryos of switching to Play and ensuring the lens does not retract, especially on reboot ?

Is this even possible to reboot without retract? When camera runs with open lens it always retracts it first. Probably some sanity checking should be removed or lied... It would be usefull also for people with disasembled cameras, maybe for pinhole photography.

No, I mean when connected to USB the lens will retract, the camera reboots, the lens extends, you switch to play using a software command and the lens retracts .... sometimes .. and maybe only on VxWorks cameras ?

You then try to download images and the screen blanks (but images are downloaded).
