With CHDK I am able to shoot in .DNG and executed HDR script (edited default script to get 5 shots at different exposure)  :D.

But still I am not able to get exposure longer than 15 second and ISO override. where I am doing wrong??

Mode M (Manual)
1: Disable Override  [Off]
2: ISO [60]
3: exposure [50 sec]

Am I doing correct??

Also sup.Fine JPEG is not so fine.
 2.3 mb from default camera setting only producing 3-4 mb sup.fine from CHDK.

Did you set the 'Value Factor' for the shutter speed and ISO overrides?
If 'Value Factor' under each setting is 'Off' the override is disabled.

Super fine is a waste of disk space, you will not be able to visually tell the difference from an equivalent image at the 'Fine' setting.

Do you really think Canon would have disabled the mode if it produced substantially better images?

(We only enable it because people complain if it's not there.)

Somewhere I read that super fine jpeg is is only nearly lossless about 10-20% compression ratio. thats why asked because in that case it should produce 8-9 mb file.

I think I am getting lots of chromatic noise in .DNG file, Is that normal :-X

Compared to the out of camera jpeg, probably - CHDK saves RAW/DNG files before any noise reduction is done by the camera. This means you can apply as much or as little noise reduction as you want, using whatever software works best for you.

The processing done in the camera is actually very good on this model, so you may need a bit of effort to get comparable results - I find Lightroom does a decent job.

Need help with building remote cable for SX40 hs.
I successfully assembled cable with single CR2032 3V battery and tested with a led light. + and - ports are also at right place but remote is not working.
Main Menu > Miscellaneous Stuff > Remote Parameters > Enable Remote. and tried to use my remote not worked .
tried to run with script but still doesn't work.

can you please suggest me any other option. can I use two LR03 aaa 1.5v battery?

You can test that your camera is working correctly by connecting it to your PC using a standard USB cable. Plugging and unplugging the cable can simulate pressing the switch on a USB remote. 

If that works but your circuit does not then you might try using three LR03 AAA batteries to get the voltage up to 4.5V

wow... remote usb connected to laptop is working..   :D I will try now my assembly with  three LR03 .
But I there is little bit problem when remote is locking focus , preview is not showing . Is it normal or bug??
