OSD not showing ( with Show OSD Enabled )

I have the white dot on the Show OSD, and for some reason is not showing.

If i go to layout editor, the OSD shows completely and
i can modify everything, but  ican't get it to show on the screen.

Anything i could be missing?

thanks

Could be that camera is in REVIEW (playback) mode AND the next menu entry "Hide OSD ?" is set to [Both] or [in Playback], for instance ...

I find having the Online or Offline User manual handy is invaluable for this kind of questions.

hth,

wim

PS Note also that for instance Zebra, Histo, Misc.Values,  RAW, Filespace have their own, mostly finer
     grained settings.

it is possible to have the histogram permanently on screen?

if i set the histogram to shoot, it shows, but if set to always, it doesn't show up.

battery indicator and other info doesn't show. i remember this was shown on my sd770
with no problems.

could it be a bug in the sx40 release?

::) it wasn't your intention to offend anybody.

i read the manual from top to bottom. there's no rocket science about it. If i set my histogram to always
it should show up. if it doesn't, it may be a tricky way to make it show up, or is a bug.

Fail to see what above has to do with being offensive, I was just pointing out how I deal with menu settings that I rarely use, or otherwise find confusing

FWIW,  the code in gui.c that controls when the histogram is drawn does not look at the "Hide OSD ?" setting to decide whether to draw the histogram or not.

But as that code is common to all cameras,  it seems unlikely that it is causing a "bug" just in the SX40. There may be something else setup incorrectly.

Edit : the logic for showing the histogram in gui.c is strange.  If nobody beats me to it,  I'll do some testing later tonight.

and is not just the histogram. is everything.

i have an sd770 and it displays everything normally by default.

the sx40 does not display even the battery percentage.

time to update that Alpha.

Recently,  philmoz has looked at the value of recreview_hold in stubs_min.S and determined that its wrong in many recent ports.  If the sx40 returns "1" for that value regardless of what the camera is actually doing,  that could explain what you are seeing.,

Works fine on my SX40HS (1.00g).

What firmware version do you have?
Are you using the latest build from the autobuild server?
Try deleting or renaming the CHDK/CCHDK.CFG file on the SD card to reset all CHDK settings back to default.

Phil.
