If you are going to rewrite params loading you could also change one-character variables names. Of course if it is no too much work.
if (2*b || !2*b) {
    cout<<question

BTW: In my opinion "default script" (built-in and A/default.bas) is not useful and obsolete. Just "no script loaded" message should be enough. And this will simplify loading process even more. Any other opinion?

In CHDK-DE we use the "default script" as a language switch. Default language is German. A first shutter click in alt mode changes the language when the script recognizes another Canon OSD language as the default CHDK language, at the moment only für English and Russian.
