Hi

I've just purchased an A490 after being impressed by all the work that's gone into creating CHDK; however, I can't find an option to upgrade the firmware within the menu system. The last option on my list relates to transition effects when in play mode.
i.e. I have
Info Display
Slideshow
Erase All
Protect
Rotate
Red-Eye Correction
Resize
Resume
Transition

CameraVersion v1.3 (using Phil Harvey's exiftool v8.4.3.0) reports that the current firmware version is 100F am I missing something or perhaps Canon have locked it down. Any help would be most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

You need two things to load CHDK via the "firmware update" method.  First of all,  you need to have the CHDK ps.fi2 file in the root directory of your SD card.  Secondly,  you need to start the camera using the Playback key,  not the On/Off button.   Only if you do those two things will you see a firmware update option in the Canon menus.

Sorry guys 3 minutes later I discovered my mistake. All is now OK and I'm blown away by CHDK.
