ok i am going to use your method to find if ALE will give me results for a little larger images. though i think it may take a few days as i am a little tied up lately.

thanks vi  - i was under the impression that ALE would do the necessary things for super resolution automatically. i already have a routine doing similar operation to eliminate chromatic aberration (at higher zooms and a closeup  lens it becomes significant )- splitting the image to component colours - adjusting the  size of  the resultant frames , align the frames and remerging the images.
i will try it with ALE and also with my routine and post the results.
