Raw collects more data no matter the sensor. Certainly I do NOT expect it to have the same results a DSLR will have. But comparing apples to apples, raw still has more date, BY DEFINITION (it isn't compressed), then jpeg. It allows you to do things in post processing that don't have the same results in jpeg. The tests I did years ago with my current Canon SX1 (I think, its in the car) including adjusting exposure radically, big crops and using a 3rd party software (complicated) showed better results with RAW than JPEG.
