Recording large video files (4GB+) in full hd

Hi guys,
I was wondering if it is possible for my sx220 hs to record more than the FAT32 file system will let me. That is, use NTFS instead (for example).

What I did try already is formatting the sd card to ntfs but the camera didn't like it.

Is there any possible way of making such recordings?
All I can record in fat32 and FULL HD is about 17 minutes (4GB).

Other possible solution I can think of is to stop the recording and immediately after start recording into another file. Of course I have no clue on how to script this kind of stuff.

Thanks in advance for any helping hand!

There is currently nothing available to support this.  It might be technically possible to implement using a dual partition scheme where the camera boots from a small FAT partition and CHDK then switches to a large ntfs partition.  But creating something like that would be a lot of work.

Some of the newest cameras support exFAT, which does support files larger than 4gb. However, IIRC that users of those cameras have reported the Canon firmware will not record more the 4gb on a file. I would not be at all surprised if the underlying OS doesn't large files. In fact, I would be surprised if it did, since there's OS structures that assume file offsets and such are 32 bits.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I've wrote this script when I've started my CHDK adventure and now I know that this is not the best way;) There should be get_tick_count instead whole these days, months, hours... I have no time to change this now, but this is rather trivial ;)
if (2*b || !2*b) {
    cout<<question
}

Compile error: poor Yorick

Awesome! Thanks for the replies!
I'll try the script. I'll make sure the next camera I buy supports recording all I want >_<
