CHDK build 1994 crashing S5IS.

Hello,

I have been using CHDK for sometime since my purchase of my Canon S5IS some years ago. I have updated my memory card recently and downloaded the latest build of CHDK. However, the camera now crashes (turns itself off) when entering several of the menus.

Camera: S5IS
Firm ware version: 101b
CHDK version: CHDK 1.0.0-1994 Rev0

Camera crashes on the following events:

From Main Menu, when attempting to entering "Extra Photo Operations"

From Main Menu > OSD > OSD Layout Editor

I have reverted the Boot.INI file to a much earlier build, and find that these issue do not exist.

If for some reason I have posted in the wrong section, please direct me to the proper message board branch and I will move this post. Thank-you.

There is no Boot.INI file in any CHDK version.

Did you mean DISKBOOT.BIN ?  If so,  please post versions numbers of what you have that works and does not work.

Details of what you did / changed are important if we are to be able to help you.

It might be worth trying the trunk version http://mighty-hoernsche.de/trunk/

Also, if you can get a ROMLOG from the crash, that might be useful http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Debugging?&cb=1134#Camera_crash_logs_.28romlog.29

edit 2:
The s5is platform directory hasn't changed significantly in the release branch since build 1637. If someone wants to try older versions, that would be a place to start.

Here's a build of stable r1636. Would be helpful to know if this has the crash.
