Hello,

I want to do a very long time-lapse program that lasts several months and I guess leaving the camera on for so long is not a good idea.

I am using a G12 and the g12-100g CHDK version.

I was wondering if it's possible to switch the camera OFF and/or ON within an LUA script.

You can use the Lua command shut_down() to turn the camera off.  Turning back on will be trickier as the powered off camera can obviously not run a script to turn itself back on and there is no internal hardware support to do that either.   People have rigged up external timers to the camera battery circuit and then "taped" the On/Off button down so that the camera starts when power is applied.  YMMV.
