Hi

Here is the Canon G1X firmware http://www.frogkick.dk/projects/photo/CANNON_PowerShot_G1_X_1.00E.zip

I've dumped it using the Universal Dumper from http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Dumper
The CBDUMPER.LOG file is also in the zipfile.

I hope that somebody will find it useful and port CHDK to the G1X. I am willing to fill the role as alpha/beta tester if somebody is willing to help with the coding part of porting CHDK.

@DryDuck : Good to see this dump - thanks. The G1X looks like a great successor to the G12.

Nice. That at least confirms that it is in the P&S family, not the DSLR family.

Dump looks fine, DRYOS version 2.3, release #0049

As always, porting depends on a person who is both a programmer and owns the camera finding the time to do it.

I will have a look at the porting guides in the wiki. Hopefully I'll figure out how to do a port, even if C is not my language of choice.

I hope that some of the experts can help when I get stuck

I have the firmware 1.00g, but I cannot dump the firmware...

I have prepared the SD with the EOS tool to write the SCRIPT in boot sector, thn I have created script.req with the "for DC_scriptdisk" text and extend.m with the unversal dumper basic script text from http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Dumper
I started the camera in play and record mode, but nothing happens, it just starts normally and no firmware dump.

I have tried again and pressed the FUNC button and this time it worked

Thank you for doing that! Its always a great first step to getting a new camera or firmware version ported.

CHDK forum guru fe50 maintains the firmware dumps on a box.com account. He will usually pick a new one up in a day or two from anywhere in the forum that its posted. So your posting is fine - no need to start a new thread.

Having said that, there is no guarantee that anyone will take the next step with it soon. Take a look at this for more info :
