Thanks to the wonderful people here who have help me figure out how to use CHDK.  I now have a problem with editing RAW.  My software Paint shop pro 3 doesn't support CHDK.  Looks like I maybe in the market for new software :(  So that being said which program do you use so you can edit your RAW photos?

Thanks. Karen

I use RawTherapee or UFRaw (mostly the second one).

Check, whether in RAW parameters you have set DNG format and DNG file extension. DNG is universal filetype for raw images, so you'll be able to use almost any software.

CHDK "raw" (saved as CR2 or CRW or others non-DNG) are not any "real" filetypes. These files are jus sensor dumps. That's why there's not a lot of programs, that handle them... So usage of DNG is better idea;)

}

If you are going to start experimenting with CHDK RAW,  you really need to understand a bit more about what it is and what it is not.   In general, outslider's suggestion to save as DNG rather than RAW is good one.  Here's some more things to read :

Picture Window Pro will read the CRW files from CHDK. PWP does offer to load a bad pixel file when the CRW is opened, however, it is looking for a bad pixel file in ASCII format rather than the binary file created by CHDK. I am not sure yet how to generate a text based bad pixel file from dark frames.
