Thanks for clarifying that!  I love CHDK and its possibilities.

I have both the SD790 and the SX260HS.  I have had no problems with the SD790 and think that it should probably be finalized.  The SX260HS should probably be moved up to beta status, as the only problem I have with that is the raw not working in Auto mode.  Just my .02 cent.

Hello. I have some questions that i couldn't find an explicit answer:
1. Many newer canon cameras (including this one) limit ISO to 100 on long exposures. does chdk remove this nasty limitation?
2. Raw currently doesn't work on auto, but does work on manual. What about P/Av/Tv?
3. Are there any GPS related improvements?
4. can noise the reduction be disabled?

@robert777

1. CHDK has an user auto ISO function. You can also override the ISO value. Read the CHDK manual.
2. Works in all modes you asked.
3. Yes, read the CHDK GPS manual: => https://chdkde.box.com/s/ftdby4qlyuvsd7o2kl2s
4. Yes, read the CHDK manual

I updated my Card with the latest CHDK release (2548) and my SX260 would not start with the start button, nor the review button.  I thought the battery had died and sent in for a replacement battery, since my battery was only about 2 weeks old.  I put in the original battery, which came with the camera, same thing!  I then Went to Bestbuy with my receipt in hand and got a new camera, same thing, again, the camera would not start up, no matter what I tried.  I then swapped cards and put in a virgin card.  Camera started right up, after I removed the battery for about 30 seconds and replaced it.  I put the CHDK card back in with the card unlocked and I was able to use the camera normally.  Afterwards, I locked the card back, inserted it into the camera and once again, the camera would not start by any means.  I took the card out unlocked it, reinserted it and still nothing.  I took out the battery for about 30 seconds, put it back and the camera started right up again.  It seems to me that 2548 broke something as regards the status of the card when it's locked.  Has anyone else experienced this?

The other more likely possibility is that you broke something trying to put 2548 onto your SD card.  Either all the files were not transferred over properly or you loaded the wrong firmware version onto the card.

You don't mention whether you reformatted the card and reinstalled CHDK - that would be the first thing to try.  And make sure you are using the right CHDK version for the firmware in your camera.

When using a "bleeding edge" development release, you should be prepared to experience some weirdness sometimes. In your case, the CHDK configuration file (cchdk3.cfg) written by the previously used CHDK version became incompatible with the newer release. It happens sometimes, unintentionally.
Erase CCHDK3.CFG (it's in the CHDK folder) from your card using a card reader.

@srsa_4c :  I don't see any mention of this searching in this thread or at http://trac.assembla.com/chdk/log/ for either SX260 or CCHDK3.CFG.  But I'm probably not looking with the right search filters.   When did this problem slip in / get fixed and did it only affect the SX260 ?

It's not camera specific, I had similar experiences recently. I haven't tried to investigate it, because I don't know the config related code.
I was the one who added the latest config entry, but I don't know whether that could have an effect like this. That new config value is only used by 2 cameras. https://trac.assembla.com/chdk/changeset/2498

Somewhat disconcerting if it could affect every camera!  I tend to update from the svn every day or two and have not seen this (at least not yet).

Meanwhile, I guess this means it might not be NormanA's problem and a full reformat, CHDK download and reinstall might be the best answer?   At a minimum it will fix any issue with the CCHDK3.CFG file.
