The screen goes black immediately after the green flash, but the camera turns off when the cable is removed.
The "green flash" is strange.  According to the platform_camera.h file for the sx260, the green power LED should turn on when you actually take a shot with sync enabled.

Otherwise,  the screen going blank is normal - the camera is in a tight loop waiting for the USB power to be removed and screen updates just stop.    Normally when you remove the cable things proceed as normal and the image is taken.

One final thought - did you select "Enable Sync Delay" by any chance?  If so, disable it and try the test agan please.

The A3400 works OK.
That's good new - gives us somewhere to start as the code is almost identical similar.

The A3400 code does contain this gem :

Code: [Select]
//This was not tested:
//begin patch
      "BL      wait_until_remote_button_is_released\n"
      "BL      capt_seq_hook_set_nr\n"
//end patch

I'm just guessing, but, I think the green flash is the focus assist light.  No, I did not enable sync delay.

Thanks for the clarification - I thought you meant the LCD display flashed green.

Thanks for checking - it was worth asking.

It does no harm to comment-out the branch to iso override in capt_seq.c as I previously suggested.

That comment is mine. The same gem appears in A4000IS, both are cameras with Image Stabilization. I was not sure about that patch, firmware of A3400IS, A4000IS is a bit different from cameras without IS.

I did mean the LCD screen flashed green, because that's how I knew what the camera was pointed at, since otherwise the LCD screen is black.  I was looking at the back of the camera, sorry if I'm causing confusion.

Got it now - the screen flashes green because its showing you the autofocus lamp.

I can try that if NormanA will test.

Not sure it will do much good though.  If you think about it, the camera goes through exactly the same code path with sync disabled or sync enabled.  The only difference is that it pauses for a while with sync enabled.  This delay appears to throw off some other timing in the shooting process if its inserted in the wrong place. The other functions patched into capt_seq.c should not be affected by sync being on or off.

Any thoughts on a good ported camera to copy that should be close to the sx240/sx260 ?
