I've been trying all afternoon to do the firmware update process to try out CHDK, but I can't find the firmware update button on the camera anywhere, whether using the play button boot or normal boot. Any tips?

The recent discussion in http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=12153.0 pretty much covers all the bases.

Note unlike the port discussed there, your cameras does include the PS.FI2 file.

Looks like it could be permissions, as I'm using a Mac. I'll have to chmod them when I get home and see if that fixes it.

Thanks!

Can any sx260 owners confirm if the script wheel_left() and wheel_right() functions work on this cam? (ping @koshy)

pong @reyalp, that triggered an Email, nice.
I've been... well it's a mess these days; anyway, I'm here and the sx260 is at a known shelf place, so tell me what to do with it please :-)
Koshy had a little ELPH which wasn't white as snow but everywhere that Koshy went the ELPH was sure to go. (actually an SD, but that detail ruins the rhyme...)

Just check if =wheel_left() and =wheel_right() in chdkptp act like using the jogdial on the camera. For example, if the Canon menu is open, they move the highlight up or down, respectively.

Thanks :)

@reyalp I did what you asked. Connected CHDKPTP to SX260, switched to Rec, went to Menu, set it in the middle of the list.

This:
Code: [Select]
> =wheel_left()
> =wheel_left()
> =wheel_right()
> =wheel_right()
did nothing...

Thanks. Can you try the following instead:
=post_levent_to_ui("RotateJogDialLeft",2)
=post_levent_to_ui("RotateJogDialRight",2)

These:
Code: [Select]

work just fine
