SX20 sometimes not booting CHDK

I have the latest CHDK version installed for my SX20.
Mostly it starts up fine and everything works as expected, but every now and again CHDK just wont boot up. the camera starts, but it starts with the original firmware. plus it doesn't recognize any sd card.
i then power the camera down and have to remove the sd card. i then disengage the "lock" and then reengage the "lock" and chdk boots up again.
if i just remove the card without unlocking and relocking it chdk wont boot up.
really weird behaviour.
any ideas?

Most likely a hardware problem and nothing to do with CHDK. Did you try a different SD Card ?

damn. the card is only a few months old. ohwell better than my camera being broken i guess

I have observed, that some cards have a little bit too small lock switch. Beside on my sx130 it seems that camera is less sensitive for lock than my computer - sometimes computer says that card is locked but camera doesn't see it.

So - as Waterwingz says - check different card;)

It's also possible the lock detect switch inside your camera is a bit flaky. This has been seen SX10 cameras a couple times. See this thread: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=3374.msg31113#msg31113

It could also be both the camera and card are just on the edge of being out of spec.
