Oh man. Fluid optical zoom during video. I can totally live with editing out the motor noise in post; just being able to change optical zoom without leaving record mode is fantastic. Thank you!

and as  it seems the camera doesn't do autofocus after zooming, here's a focus script that configures available buttons for focus tasks
good thing the camera keeps its configured focus distance even when zooming

Manual focus and presets in video mode

if anybody can make it better, to for example allow zoom while in alt mode, be my guest.

Hello all, I'm new in the group, after discovered a new world (and a new camera w/o waste a money :-), of course!)with chdk.
I wonder if the the zoom feature is working on a 650is model (I'm thinking to buy it) and if not yet, it will be implemented?
Many thanks for your reply

According to ewavr, it is currently not possible in A650 because "MovieRecordTask redefinition absent".
However, he has already modified movie_rec.c for DryOS cams in a testbuild. Though it currently doesn't
seem to work,be sure that it will be done in future. (Ewavr you're unbeatable, keep up your magic!)

Edit: Further analysis revealed that it is not so easy task :(

ewavr and PhyrePhoX,

Thanx for this video zoom option, works prefectly on my A620. A solution with script was also usefull, but not very comfortable, this way it's much better. Also, hiding the OSD on half press is still there, along with some other interface improvements

I noticed there's still a minor bug in allbest build concerning ISO display in video mode. If you start the camera in video mode, it remains on 0. Switching to some of photo modes and reverting to video solves this. Some variable somewhere uninitialized, I suppose ...

yes the ISO market staying at 0 in video is a new bug in build 48 although sometimes the bug goes away.

It was also a bug in #37, when allbest included ISO display and image distance in video mode, after my notice (previously, it didn't work at all)
