Good point. I had already installed CHDK on the sx260, so I could use it to make a bootable card for the G1X. Then I installed each firmware version in turn, and it worked on the last one (of course). If I only had the G1X and no other camera, I couldn't have done this.

I haven't used ACID, but doesn't it discover the firmware version from a jpg somehow?

Yes - and downloads the appropriate version for you based on that.

Hello guys!
I just bought a Canon G1X camera a week ago (December 2012).
Before trying to install the CHDK I checked to see what is my camera firmware.
Using the ACID tool I discovered my camera has the firmware version 101a.
This firmware seems to be newer and is not in your list.

I dumped my firmware using the dump script.
I cannot attach the firmware to this message because archived has 4MB.
Please let me know if I can help with this new firmware by uploading it somewhere.

I hope there is somebody there interested and having enough time to deal with the porting of this new firmware version.

philmoz did the orginal  port, so he would be the one to ask. The G1X is the top of the line for CHDK cameras, so I hope he gets you going soon.

Attached is a new version with (hopefully) all functionality enabled.

Please be sure to test exposure overrides including shutter speeds > 60 seconds, and movie quality override.
