Hello
Just a Quick question im shure others would like to.

Is there a was a way we could DISABLE the Zoom Framing Assist Button ?
I use a handstrap and im hitting this buton ALL the time....
There has been times that when i hit the shutter buton and have ended pressing this buton at the SAME time and the Camera has shut down or just locks up and I have Lost some Very good shots cause of this.

Please can we get this option ?
DISABLE the Zoom Framing Assist Button
Or be able to move it over to the Short cut button

Thank you.

Technically,  its pretty simple to disable the button.   You just need to edit the key masks in platform/sx40hs/kbd.c file to ignore the button.

Its defined like this in the file :
Code: [Select]
{ 0, KEY_ZOOM_ASSIST     ,0x00010000 },
Adding this as a menu item and making it selectable in kbd.c is a bit more work.  I'm not sure it would get a lot of support from the dev community to customize the CHDK core like this although it could be made an sx40 only hack pretty easily.  Typically that sort of thing is allowed for the person who creates the port - kind of a perk for doing all the work in the first place.

One option would be for you to build your own version.   CHDK-Shell makes this really easy - no programming skills required.   Then you would just need to edit the kbd.c file each time you want to build the latest and greatest updates into your version.   I'm sure we could show you what needs to be done there if you are interested.

It looks like the sx40 was ported by philmoz and ERR99.  They are both quite active on this forum.  Maybe you could post a request on the sx40 porting thread (with a link here so its not a cross post http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=7944)  and see what they think ?

ok i got a Version with the ZOOM ASSIST  Button turned of ...

and im SOOOOO happy now    :D x 10.000

it would be VERY cool if someone wants to disable this button could do so as a menu configurable option
to disable it and Enable it as needed.
