A color bug in Visual Settings?

1. Go into Visual Settings
2. Select Cursor Background Color (default is red)
3. Select blue
4. Turn the cam off
5. Turn the cam on

The cam (A590IS - - a590-101b-1.0.0-1793-full) will now have a different color, not blue nor red :(
I have always used the default red and white because of this.

Any ideas?

What does the cursor color look like before you power off in step 4 ?

Hi waterwingz,

>What does the cursor color look like before you power off in >step 4 ?

blue

Just like I selected is step 3.

The problem occurs when you turn the cam off. It goes to gray :( and it will have a different color in Play mode than in Rec mode.

I think the Cursor Background Color should stay blue (both in Play and Rec mode) until changed again.

Depending on which camera you own,  it turns out that Canon plays lots of tricks with the palettes it uses.  You can see this if you go to the Visual Settings menu and look at the color choices while the camera is in Playback mode and again while the camera is in Shooting mode.  It gets even funkier if you have one of the Canon menu's open and press the <ALT> key.

Philmoz did some great work on creating a unique palette for CHDK but implementing it turns out to be very camera specific so it did not expend beyond his 3 or 4 cameras (at the time).

Until somebody dives deeper into this,  funky colors are the way it will be.

Thanks waterwingz. That's why I always use the default white/red bkgr.
