Do you try to take a shoot while being in ALT mode? If so, then you should know, that:
- in ALT mode the shutter button doesn't take a shoot but run a script
- if you want to take a shoot then go to the standard (non-ALT) mode.
I guess you are in ALT mode so the camera runs a script. From what I know the default script is used to set the CHDK language the same as Canon firmware uses. And it seems that this script can't guess, which language your camera uses (maybe CHDK has not been translated to this language). That's not really a big problem.
