Hello,

I want to make my SD card bootable with the "SDMINSTE" program.

But how does the step work?

"Unzip the primary.bin file from the CHDK distribution file to the root of the FAT16 partition on your SD card"

I can't find the primary.bin file

I hope to hear from you.

Hallo Henk,

This must me a typo, CHDK distributions never contain 'primary.bin' files.

I think you can safely assume 'diskboot.bin' is meant here.

My mistake.  I just posted that page yesterday - nice to see someone using it already.   Sort of a beta test for those instructions.

I got still one question over this.

what is the easiest way to view photos on the computer ?

Do I have to swap al the times between the active partitions?

If you're only using JPEG images, you can use the USB connection to transfer the images as usual (camera in playback mode, CHDK's USB remote setting disabled), otherwise you may use a card reader to copy your media files to your hard disc.
Allmost all viewer apps can handle JPEG images, e.g. the free XNView viewer; when using CHDK RAW files i suggest to enable CHDK's DNG support, the DNG image format is supported widely...

Is that correct?  When you pull a dual partition card from your camera and put it into the reader on your PC,  doesn't it show the small FAT16 partition rather than the larger FAT32 where your pictures are stored ?  I seem to recall using SDMinste.exe to swap partitions ( although you can do it with the CHDK menus too).

I stick to 4G cards so its been a while since I played with it.

Sure, for me Windows shows the fat16 partition instead of large fat32 with photos. However *nix systems such as Linux, BSD and possibly Mac will show both partitions.

I haven't try that myself since I use Linux almost all the time. But people say it works.

I tried the same steps with one partition, that als worked for me (<4GB), i didn't know that.
