Focus on the Moon is good, much bigger problem is chromatic aberration which is consequence of poor quality lenses.
Make more pictures of the Moon, or even better make a movie and used Registax for the stack, the result will not fail.

The focus on the moon image looks similar to mine; but I'm seeing a lot of JPEG artifacts and some very strange colors. Doesn't look like CA to me except along the edge.

This is a handheld moon shot from mine at 1/100 sec, ISO 100 processed from a DNG file saved with CHDK.


I haven't tried any star shots so I can't compare them; but they don't look as good as you would expect.
What was your shutter speed on the star shots?

Your Moon looks great, I'm surprised there are so many differences if it comes to the same camera model, and if he did not use any process to get rid of noise, which may cause artifacts.
As for the stars they can never be completely sharp, because the motion of the atmosphere, visibility or seeing is a big problem for astrophotography.

I do not see any significant difference in sharpness.
Use Registax and you get something like this.

i Know how thay would look ...
But you need some detail to work with and BACK to the point of this post

This camera dont focus far enough .
as i said i looks like it needs  2 or 3 more steps on the focus. as i can watch the image get cleaner and sharper with the last 3 steps to the top "infinity" but then i can go no farther.

OK here is the proof that something is going on with how CHDK is focusing on this camera.

I used >manual focus< upto its max to get the clearest image as i could.
AND i used 2 Different SDHC cards one WITH CHDK and One WITHOUT CHDK for this test.

you can see clearly there is a isue with the Focus here
 And the image quality is worse to .....


No CHDK used for this image.

Hmmm, I've made some tests in beginning of March with SX130IS -Mode M, with and without MF.
And also with and without CHDK. Not only infinity but and on close ( 1-3 meter) distances.
Definitely the Focus was little bit worse with CHDK - like on pictures above.
All overrides when CHDK was used, were Unchecked = NO Overrides !
What going on I don't know ?
