G11 frequent crashes with 1.1.0-1811 and 1.0.0

After years of using CHDK without any problems with my previous G7 (thanks for that) I now moved to a G11.
Unfortunately the camera turns off (=crashes) in average every third time I turn it on. Sometimes it works for longer and sometimes it freezes even more frequently. The camera usually stops within 1-2 seconds after booting. Sometimes earlier some times later. It looks random to me.

I've tried both g11-100l-1.1.0-1811 and g11-100l-1.0.0-1812.

Is this a known issue (I haven't found it on the forum)?
Is anybody working on this?
Can I help in resolving this annoying issue? (It's a show-stopper and makes CHDK unusable for me)

Any help is highly appreciated.

Kind regards

ertm

If you don't see posts about this on the forum then its most likely that nobody is working on it.

First step is to dump the camera's build in crash log.   After the crash, restart the camera and run the script SCRIPTS/TEST/romlog.lua.  More details about that here :

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Scripts/Romlog

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Lua/Scripts:Standard/Test/Romlog

Post a few of the log file here and we will see what we can do.

This camera doesn't have
CAM_STARTUP_CRASH_FILE_OPEN_FIX
defined. Sooner or later all (DryOS) ports without it will be reported like this...

That might be it.  As I recall,  the problem gets worse as the SD card fills up with images.   Maybe current G11 users have mostly empty SD cards so have not noticed it ?

It's an issue affecting many cameras. http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6179.0

Attached is a test version with the workaround enabled. Don't forget to report whether it works. Use an SD card filled up with photos for testing.

Currently there isn't much on the card but I'll fill it up.

I've now tested it using a 16GB card with 1500 Photos. Works flawless so far.   :)
The patch should be integrated.
