Hi,
I dont really know where to put this,

i just wanted to know if its possible to use the scripting
to create image processing effects like those seen on instragram or
having the script do basic tonal mapping, which could involve taking
pictures with various exposures (high,mid,low) and combining them together.
or even increased contrast.

While it might be technically possible,  its not anything that has been attempted.  For the most part,  these sort of things are better handled on your PC rather than in the camera.

is that why there is HDR software out there.......
as a camera could not and would not have the processing power do take on sutch a task.
let alone the options you would NEED to have for processing a HDR image.

thats why we have Photomatix Pro for more Proper processing of HDR photos.
