Need help w/continuous video script for S95

1st off, I am a newbie so be gentle  :)

I was looking for a way to workaround the 30 minute video time limit (4GB FAT32) on my S95 when I stumbled across CHDK... very cool.

I have managed to verify my FW, load the CHDK, and play around with it a bit including a few of the stock scripts.

Problem is, I cannot find a working script for continuous video for the S95 & I am far from a coder... I have tried both scripts here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Continuous_Video as well as some in various message threads.

I get this:
*** STARTED ***
*** FINISHED ***
uBasic: 1 Unk stmt

Anyone have any tips? Or is there a script out there I have overlooked? Or better yet can someone make edits to the BSA script above to work with the S95?

Appreciate the help!

Sounds like you have not saved the script as a simple text file.  What editor / process did you use to transfer the script from the wiki to the SD card ?

Just created a new text doc on my desktop, opened it with notepad, pasted the script there, and saved.
I changed Encoding from ANSI to UTF-8 based on one of the posts on this topic. I also changed the file extension from .txt to .bas

What did I miss? Thanks !!

Looks like I just over complicated it. I tried again with default ANSI encoding and it worked (well so far so good, key will be in a few minutes to see if it stops & starts correctly).  Thanks!

ok, so follow up question/call for help... of the 2 scripts at the link below ther .bas works great but the .lua commands dont seem to work for me.

All I really want in addition to the .bas file, is the ability to, in order of priority:
1) Turn off the display to save battery life.
2) A 'restart' function would be nice. I am using this to record baseball games... I need the continuous option in case I am away for an extended time, but if I am in front of it I would love to be able to break the footage between innings.

Is that easy to add to the 1st script below?

You need to use the development version of CHDK to use the second script.  Details here :

I had those on my list to look at.  Give me a couple of days to get around to it.

I left the BAS script running last night while I stepped out. I set the time limit to 15 mins (900 secs) and it recorded 4 videos. I thought it was a dead battery but when I turned it back on it had ~40% and worked fine. Is there a parameter I can set to record longer in total duration but keep the segments smaller?

The script should loop forever - there is no recording duration limit.

Did you disable all the "automatic power off" options in your camera menus ?

Also,  sometimes a battery will recover a bit after it appears to be drained - although 40% seems high. Did you try to see how long it would (continue) to record for if you restarted from 40% ?

Good question on the power off setting, will double check as well as test the battery life after the fact... my wife took the camera out of town for a few days so I will be patiently waiting for it's return in hopes I can make this all work for the ballgame Monday night. Thanks!
