Cant get shutter work via USB port / gentWIRE2

I'm the newbie in CHDK but no complete idiot :) I've made homework searching this forum and maikong many trials, scripts and so on.

I have a problem with USB triggering in my IXUS SD630.


I have CHDK 1853 installed and RUN on it, I also have triggering script run and USB REMOTE set to on. But nothing happen if I'm inserting USB power cable or even gentWire2 with RC receiver.

On the other hand the USB port in my camera is working, I can transfer images to PC for example.


What I'm missing?

I have also Canon A2200 HD but there is no CHDK available yet, right?

Please post your triggering script here and if possible all the settings in the USB remote setup screen.

I assume that you are trying to trigger the camera by plugging and unplugging your USB cable rapidly ?

thx for help. Yes I'm trying to plug/unplug briefly.

The script I'm using are your scripts I think.

There is no action whatever I'm doing with USB port. I have a feeling that some option in setup of my camera is missing.

Pls find parameters screens.

Hi Tomasz
since no one else has reported problems with that camera and the USB cable seems to be working, the most likely cause of the problem is a bad setting in the CHDK CFG file (which is in the CHDK directory of the card).

I suggest you try the following:

1. put the card in the card reader and rename the CFG file, so that when CHDK starts it will create a new one
2. lock the card and put it in the camera
3. switch on the camera but don't go into ALT mode
4. check that the camera will take a picture normally by pressing the shutter
5. connect the camera to your computer via USB and then disconnect

Step 5 should result in the camera taking a picture. CHDK, when not in Alt mode, should respond to a power pulse on the USB port by taking a picture. If your camera does not then there is definitely something wrong with the CHDK build. If it does, then there was some bad setting in the old CFG file.

If the camera DOES take a picture at step 5, then try going into ALT mode and running one of the scripts. They also should now work.

I've made all your steps and nothing happened.

And it looks like on the attached picture.

Just want to say that MD script for example is workong on it.

Try disabling the Remote Zoom option.  The code for that is an awful mess at the best of times.

I don't believe any of those are mine.  The script posted here should tell us if the port is working at all though :

Otherwise,  I'll have to look at the source to see it that tells me anything when I have a little spare time.

In the mean time,  you could try the new USB remote 2 code in the development version :

Its more fun to use anyway.


UPDATE : took a quick look at the code and as I suspected,  your camera uses the USB remote code in platform/generic/kbd.c - which could mean it might never have been tested (need to read the porting thread to check).  At least there is code there - a few cameras have none.

One question, should I test what U write then or it have no sens according to your update?

Please test.   

I do not know for sure that the code is wrong.  We will have to test that if the other things I suggested do not work.
