Update:  This is for the Canon sx40.  I don't know how to get back to shooting raw after it goes to sleep or after it auto shuts off.  I mean, doesn't your camera go into sleep mode after a few minutes and when it wakes up with the play button, it's no longer in hack mode.  this is the crux of the problem.  since it's no longer in hack mode, i can't take raw unless i open the battery door and go back into hack mode.

if I don't touch my camera for a few minutes, it goes into sleep mode, then when i hit the play button, i can no longer load he chdk unless i open the battery cover and close it.  i wish chdk would document the steps carefully cuz it's been a very frustrating experience.  it took me a few hours just to figure out how to configure the camera to shoot raw mode.  Needless to say, he documentation is so out of date which said that I needed to download certain programs.  why doesn't someone update the document?

Now that I have this camera configured, i need to know how to get it on to shoot raw every time without messing with getting into hack mode.. it's so frustrating.. I assure you that I'm not the only one who has been confused.

then finally, why do people have to type dkdkdkdk every time??  isn't the verification secure enough?  hello?  First i was frustrated with canon leaving out the raw, now I'm frustrated with chdk.. sigh.

Strange.  What camera ?  And what did you try to do to "load he chdk" after you hit the play button ?

Depends on what documentation you used I guess.  CHDK is a community effort - feel free to help updating the documentation.

I think you need to request a full refund of all the money you have paid for CHDK.  Or do you have a specific question with a detailed description of what you have tried so far ?

Actually,  I have no idea what you are talking about here.  For the life of me,  I can never recall being required to type "dkdkdkdk" ever.

If you have spent anytime looking at the posts on this forum you will have learned that there are many people here willing to help.  But the number of people willing to help goes down a lot when you post emotional statements rather than specific questions.

I don't know, it is a bit irritating.

An additional safeguard, but as you say the normal verification is usually sufficient.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I have never had to enter a captcha while posting ? If one is coming up every time you post, I'd suggest bringing it up in the forum issues section http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?board=2.0

It is when you use the forum Search facility, possibly when Javascript is turned off.

EDIT

I have just tried it with and without Javascript, signed-in and not signed in and there were no problems.

I will keep a lookout for it happening again.

This is for the Canon sx40.  Please see original post where i put in the update.   Thanks for the help in advance.


I use Chrome Browser.
Also, the wierd thing is that just 5 minutes ago, i temporarily forgot the password to this site and requested it to send me a new password, but I still didnt' receive the password reset yet.  i remembered the password.  i checked and my email is correct..  for the record, this account never received it's first email confirmation.  can someone fix this account?  I still see the capcha when i post.

So it happens when you try to search and are not logged in.   I'm sure there is a reason for not wanting spam-bots to be able to search but I don't know what it is ?  Somehow stop them from harvesting email addresses or something ?

Update :  I seem to recall acseven having big problems with the load on the search engine bogging down the whole forum.   That's why it now has a time limit before you can do a second search.  Maybe this was added to keep bots out for the same reason ?

Well, on this occasion yes, but not always.
