In Camera DNG Color Correction?

I have not kept up with the CHDK DNG progress.

Am wondering if the CHDK in camera DNG has color correction support for most cameras like DNG4PS-2?

Searched the Forum and Internet but did not find an answer.

Thanks

Ken

Short answer = yes.

The parameters to do this are stored in the platform_camera.h file in the svn build tree for each camera.  It looks something like this :

Code: [Select]
#define cam_CalibrationIlluminant1      17 // standard light A
#define CAM_COLORMATRIX1 \
        11093,  1000000,    -3906,  1000000,    -1028,  1000000, \
        -5047,  1000000,    12492,  1000000,     2879,  1000000, \
        -1003,  1000000,     1750,  1000000,     5561,  1000000

Hi waterwingz,

Thanks in that case I should be using in camera DNG.

Since saw your answer did a recheck of "CHDK User Manual" http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Manual ,
CHDK User Quick Start Guide http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_User_Quick_Start_Guide.pdf , CHDK for Dummies http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_for_Dummies , FAQ http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ , CHDK firmware usage http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_firmware_usage , One Page Ultra-Quick Users Guide http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/One_Page_Ultra-Quick_Users_Guide , but did not find any mention of this.

Also researched the forum but also did not find a recent post concerning in camera DNG color correction.

Is there a User Guide that explains the in camera DNG options and which cameras have supported color correction?

Thanks again for all your help!!!

Ken

Not that I know of beyond the ones you already found.  After that you either read the source or (shudder) search the forum.

But all cameras that support DNG will have the color correction code.  Whether the values are set correctly is anyone's guess.

G10 and IXUS120.  I just use the default settings.

Frankly,  all of them.  That's what you get when you play around with the source enough.

BTW - Here's my set of "RAW" links - didn't have access to it earlier.  Not sure if any of its of interest to you :

Hi waterwingz,

Thanks  for the links!

Am ready to try In Camera DNG option.

I have not found out how long it has been stable so question if I should download the latest stable version of CHDK for my A570IS?

Since you have a much better idea of when In Camera DNG option became stable, will ask what version of CHDK has the latest In Camera DNG code?

If my version of CHDK is later will just try the In Camera DNG option.

Thanks

Ken

The stuff in your camera will be fine.   Some people have trouble generating the required bad_pixel.bin file on their cameras ( search the forum for "bad_pixel.bin").    The new dev trunk supports a newer versionof DNG that does not need the bad pixel file if you get stuck on that step.

When searching about "In Camera DNG Color Correction?" found "How can I convert from CRW to DNG?
The automatic DNG conversion is just a tad slower than ordinary RAW shooting, but you're familiar with the delay if you use CHDK for RAW. CHDK DNG works fine in ACR and other applications I've used....CHDK SETUP DNG CONVERSION IN-CAMERA
. Ensure badpixel.bin is in CHDK folder on SD card
. In RAW PARAMETERS, ensure SAVE RAW is checked
. set BadPixelRemoval to 'RAWconv' or 'DNGconv'
. check DNG FORMAT
. check 'DNG' FILE EXTENSION (newer CHDK)
. check MISC STUFF 'Show DNG with USB' [S5]

Hope it 's helpful. Not sure it's entirely up to date with latest versions of CHDK. "

Is all that is mentioned here really necessary?

"The new dev trunk supports a newer version of DNG that does not need the bad pixel file if you get stuck on that step."

I was one having problems so what version has "DNG that does not need the bad pixel file"?

Thanks again

Ken

Hi waterwingz,

Forgot to mention, I found some postings concerning CHDK Internal DNG Conversion such as "Questions about CHDK Internal DNG Conversion" http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=3418.0 but they were 2-3 yrs old so do not know if the problems were solved?
