yes - I am one of those that was hoping for a flashable update- just like most of my other products that have firmware. I have been completely lost on this site trying to figure out how to possibly use the CHDK for my camera. I have firmware version 1.00c, 100, 1.00c and 1.0.0.0 depending upon where I look on this site! How do people have 'newer' versions of the firmware if the only way to get newer versions of the firmware is from Canon and Canon says there isn't a newer version available? How is there a 1.01a and 1.01b even in existence? From what you indicated above, I can't use a 1.01a or b dump to update my 1.00c? Why does the main page for the a4000is say "CHDK is available for the Powershot A4000IS with firmware 1.01A and 1.01B as ALPHA version from the Download page" if I cant update the firmware to those versions? I am VERY confused here. I cant seem to find any one place here for concise answers. Please point me in the right direction. CHDK is on of the reasons I chose a powershot camera. Yes I knew that it wasn't available at the time of purchase but I check back occasionally to see if it is, and that above quote is what I saw this time - giving me hope but also confusing the hell outta me.
Thanks in advance.
