i have heard about the features of chdk, so went out and bought sx60 hs camera with a 32 GB Card and downloaded sx60hs-100f-1.5.0-4917-full_ALPHA.zip

now what do i do next ?
please point me out to the right path.

how do i activate this software ? ( by activate i mean that how do i install this software in the camera ? )
how do i make the card autoboot chdk everytime i start the camera ?

if it matters my camera firmware is 100f as said by CameraVersion13-sfx.exe
i cannot find other links with step by step details on how to install this software on the camera and activate it ...

You didn't need to download anything. If you use my STICK utility (see http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/stick/stick.html) it will download and install the right CHDK for you and make the card bootable so CHDK will start when the camera is switched on.


If you are a Windows user you might find Dmitry Shechtman's CHIMP utility easier - see https://github.com/CHDKUtil/CHIMP

Hi there!
another SX60HS/100F owner here !

Tried to use sTCK unsuccesfully, i'm afraid.
I'm using a 64Gb microSD card, fat32, but lst step says:
'installation failed - see log for details'

I'm not sure if i can understand what log says, but i think this is the key:

" Preparing Device disk3 64.0 GB - please wait ...
Making card bootable  as FAT32
Command 'diskutil unmountDisk disk3' = 'Unmount of all volumes on disk3 was successful'
   return code was 0
Command 'printf "BOOTDISK" | dd bs=1 count=8 seek=0x1e0 conv=notrunc of=/dev/disk3s1' = '!Error

dd: /dev/disk3s1: Permission denied'
   return code was 1
Command 'diskutil mountDisk disk3' = 'Volume(s) mounted successfully'
   return code was 0"

I think i missed something important, but... what? :D

Hi Javi


that "permission denied" in the log means you did not give STICK permission to write to the SD card. To do that on a Mac you need to start STICK by double-clicking the stickML.command file. This will ask you to authorise STICK by typing your admin password. Note that the password will NOT display - just type it and press Enter and STICK will then start.

Thanks ZENO for your fast reply!
I tried to follow that procedure, but then there is a new handicap:

" Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: SOEngine : Unsupported major.minor version 51.0 "

I'm still searching how to solve this  :( maybe this is something related java RE version, but i dont know how to fix it yet...
but, optimistic, maybe i'm on the right path, with your help :)

This is mainly my fault - looks like I compiled STICK so that it requires recent java releases. I suggest you download the latest jdk from here
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html


choose the MacOS version of the Java SE Dev kit 8u151.
