Thanks. I can't find these files... I'm trying a new installation, could it be any problem in the camera?
They will not appear on your card until the first time you successfully boot CHDK and shutdown normally.

One strange thing in the camera is that I have a photo of my own in the starup images, I think that it overwrite the 3rd built in image, and it was when the problems started and I update CHDK.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "startup images".  Tell us the exact directory and file name(s) on your SD card involved please ?

Since I formatted the card the last time, I wasn't able to successfully boot CHDK, I think.

I'm talking about the "Start-up image..." setting in the G12, it is an option to customize the start-up screen of the machine.

The files in the first partition are:DISKBOOT.BIN   PS.FI2
In the second partition are:PS.FI2      changelog.txt   readme.txt

Ok, if it's a new install these files won't be present yet.

Have you tried starting without CHDK and resetting the startup image back to the default?

Phil.

Yes, and everything works, thanks. But the custom image are still there, which I found a bit strange, as the CHDK doesn't change the camera firmware....

No. I used the old backps, I thinks its a small build.

I'm not sure what you've installed here, but you really need to install the full CHDK release for your camera and firmware version. The 1.1.0 version is not going to run without the modules in the appropriate subdirectories.

Just realized you said this :

I'm using the "SD card lock boot" method, which is the only supported in G12.
Yet you report that there are ps.fi2 files on your SD card ?  Those are used for "firmware update" booting.

What are you actually installing on your SD card ?

Thanks I didn't know that, but I've tried with all the directories and happens the same thing :(

In an old version it was unsupported I think, but when you said it, I tried but the camera will also suddenly shutdown when booting. I tried the this http://mighty-hoernsche.de/bins/g12-100e-1.0.0-1994-full.zip which I think is the latest stable release for the Canon G12 with the 100e firmware. I installed using SDM/CHDK installer.

If you downloaded the file you linked and installed it properly,  there should be subdirectories.

Also,  the symptoms you describe are usually cause by loading the wrong firmware version ( i.e. any chance that your cameras is not a 1.00e ?).

Yes I'm sure that is the right version, I've checked with ACID and the vers.req method. I've tried all the CHDK available for G12 for all the firmware versions and the behavior was different. With the wrong versions the camera won't turn on when using the bootable method, and when using firmware update method the camera shuts down but keeps the led of the power button on. When I'm using CHDK for the right firmware version, the camera turns on and almost boot but then it turns off immediately in both the boot method and the firmware update.

Thanks you.

I've just tried the latest builds for both 1.0 and 1.1 from the autobuild server on my camera (firmware 1.00c) and they both work fine.

Have you tried a different SD card?

Phil.
