black dot question

I am sure there is an answer here already but when shooting raw my pics have dots that look like dead pixels.
when i save the raw to jpeg they are still there

is it my camera???

Do you mean you convert the RAW images to JPG on your computer and save them ? Or can you see the dead pixels in the JPG imagein the camera that corresponds to your RAW image ?

the jpeg from the camera is fine.
when i view the raw image "I see dead pixels"kinda like I see dead people.LOL
when i modify the image and save a copy as a jpeg the dots are in the jpeg.
what could i be doing wrong?
I am NEW to raw.
I also find my raws seem blurry and unfocused?

CHDK RAW is a simply a dump of the actual information that comes from your camera's sensor. No processing, image clean-up, distortion correction, bad pixel removal or anything else that the Canon firmware does to the image before compressing it and putting it into a JPG file. Like the name says, its RAW data.

my son just pointed out as a read your quote...bad pixel removal... duhh.
my sons nikon d5100 has no bad pixels.
is it simply something that i have to edit when i use raw...OMG there are so many dots.

or his nikon removes the bad pixels before he sees them .. DSLR's cost a lot more and you get something for that.

I believe so. There are others who hang around this forum that might have better advice for you .. for example, if you use DNG rather than raw, you can get bad pixel removal automatically. Except I think that's "bright pixel" removal (hotspots) but I am likely completely wrong about that. Hang around for 48 hour and see if someone can give you a better answer ?
