I fitted a microscope eyepiece to the extended inner barrel of the lens of this camera, as a macro attachment, as described briefly in my blog sandscrawls.wordpress.com.

You say "set a custom ISO, such as 12 or 16, if the light is too intense."

Do you have any tests that prove such an ISO value is actually different from the cameras normal lowest value ?

It's tricky, but I have seen a difference, for example in the exif metadata.   However, I have had trouble with this, even between successive shots.   One possibliity is to check the parameters of CHDK related to autoiso. 

I have consternated and experimented numerous times.  Several settings seem to interact in ways that are not obvious to me.   For example, just setting over- and under- exposure seems to make a difference in some configurations; while at the same time, it affects the brightness of the LCD.   

If there is a lucid account of how to set these parameters, I would also appreciate to learn more about it.

"50 {80} / 6400 (1600) ".  So I guess 50 is stated to be possible.

However, I have a photo that shows "ISO Speed Rating" as 10 in the exif data.   Is this accurately reported, or does this happen even if the hardware overrides the software setting by CHDK?

How can I post the photo?

With apologies, I will post once more.  The "Makernote" metadata as displayed by Digikam (GNU/Linux) shows "ISO Speed Used" as 100., under the subheading of "CanonSi" 

So, until I figure out how to set this camera reliably, I cannot verify there is any effect of setting the ISO to 10 or 20, or whatever.
