I downloaded and installed the correct version of CHDK on a 16Gb disk using the special instructions for memory card > 4GB.  I get the CHDK splash screen but cannot get any of the special functions to appear.  Not even the battery level.  I have tried several alternative install techniques with no luck.

Did you press the Print / Shortcut button to enter <ALT> mode and then the Menu button to bring up the CHDK menu?
