@kostasoft

you will get this error if you use an old compiler, try the GCC 4.3.3 that comes with CHDK Shell 2.14 full version.
(See also reply #214 in this thread)

Hello!
Is it possible to run this on win2003 if the os-check is removed or changed to accept win2003?

Now that I remember...: sort of recent (I tried this about 2 months ago) versions are kind of hard to use in Vista (just for downloading a specific trunk version to browse and edit source to be transferred to a linux computer, I know I can't build under Vista). I think older versions weren't quite as eager about checking the OS first. I believe I got the job done more or less by running in XP compatibility mode, but it wasn't a lot of fun even then.

Anyway, it will likely run if win2003 has a similar compatibility mode, but you probably can't build since gcc won't work (probably, I really don't know our windows tools well at all).

Even if i set "run in compatibility mode" and choose xp, it still gives me the message in my previous post.

@hotvedt

i have compiled you a version which will allow Win 2003 to run; since i only have functional XP & 2000, i have no idea if GCC will compile CHDK under
Win 2003 - please report if it works OK so i can incorporate this in the next version.
You can find it here: http://drop.io/chdkshellbeta as "chdk-shell-v217.exe"
This is not a self-extractor, you'll have to manually copy it to wherever your
current version is.

Yes, it seems to be working, thank you, i just compiled binarys for a540, but have not yet tested them in my cam.

And something makes this:

come up all the time, but i can just ignore it.
I'll test the binarys in my cam straight away and update this post.

Update: They work in my camera too. :)

CHDK-Shell-v217 (update and full version)

  • added: Win 2003 server compatibility (thanks, hotvedt !)

  • changed: all icons used by the program are now in CHDK-Shell\icons ; Win 2003 does not
    appear to like icons in system files being accessed by programs

cheers,

wim

@bonny

First of all, sorry for being so late in answering, we've had lots of thunderstorms here, which means i haven't been able to use the internet much lately (ADSL in the french Pyrenees suffers from provider monopoly & overland telephone lines - we've already blown up 3 modems in spite of protecting both power and signal lines)

Now, for your question: because the SDM source is not part of CHDK's SVN source tree, CHDK-Shell can not perform any svn related functions, like auto downloading new versions ...
Also SDM uses heavily modified Makefiles, so the program is unable to get info from those.
I managed to compile SDM 1.80 sources with CHDK-Shell 2.17 as follows:

1) unpack sdm.zip to the /branch folder including full paths
2) activate branches and select one as default (note that it won't show SDM)
3) go into manual compile mode (command prompt)
4) the path to your default branch will be shown before the prompt
5) do a 'cd ..' followed by a 'cd sdm_1.80' to set the path to your sdm source
6) to compile for a camera, the following appears to work:
    'gmake PLATFORM={yourcam} PLATFORMSUB={yourfirm} firsub'

Please note i have little experience with either compiling or using SDM, it could well be easier to
just install yourself a separate command line environment for the purpose of compiling SDM ...
I suggest you ask David (aka Microfunguy, SDM's author) which building environment he recommends ...

hope that helps a little,

wim

I'm already establish new commadline environment for SDM.
Thanks for answer.

Thunderstorms ?!?

@#^$&*#%^@(^$%^&  You're lucky. You blew 3 modems only! I don't remember the correct number but it's at least 10! If I forget to disconnect cables and thunderstorm come then I have 100% guarrante to modem be blown. I try 1001 protection devices but only one works.  ... disconnect all cabbles.
