IXUS750(SD550) - metering modes query

Have been using CHDK for a few months now, really only to gain raw support

One irritating thing about the 750 is that it will not default to spot metering mode, which I use all the time.

Is there a workaround for this by scripting ? It would be good for the camera to run a script on startup which set it to spot mode.
Or is this beyond what CHDK can do or is designed to do?

Yes - write a simple script which emulates the needed key presses & exits <Alt> mode...

I know it's been said before, but navigating the wiki to find the basic information needed is horrible, and understanding what's written there must be a nightmare for anyone who's never been involved with code of any sort.

this however seems to work, ugly as it is:
