The tool in the partitioning method you suggested set a 2 MB partition and I could not find a way to change its size.  As I mentioned, Partition Magic doesn't recognize as SD card either.

I will be trying the new ZIP shortly.

Thanks. At one point there was apparently concerns that 4G FAT16 partitions did not work for CHDK.   I thought that had been corrected.  Which tool were you using ?  CardTricks, LICKS or SDMINSTE.EXE ?

No idea why partition magic does not work for you.  The linux equivalent (gparted) works fine with all my SD cards.

ZIP TEST-2 Initial Results

I manged to get the buttons on the camera to work at least to get a palette ...... but ...... I still can't get a button on PTP to activate <Alt>.

==>> I mentioned this before and will stress again here:  the liveview **interacts** with the UI palette.  That is a change in scene brightness and/or scene color affects the UI colors.

A hint? : at 1 fps each new frame also affects colors and brightness.  Transfer speed related?  Should not be.

==>> You still have the horizontal bar artifact ... see an earlier post.

Now I will do the technical acceptance long exposure tests.

More later.

I used SDMINSTE.EXE.

I tried the command line partition tool and it too did not recognize the SD card.

So when you plug your SD card into the reader in your PC, you can read file from the card.  But when you run partion magic (or other tools) they can not "see" the SD card reader at all ?

Yes those two can't but Windows Disk Manager can.  In WDM if the SD card is 4 GB it gives me a choice to format FAT16 or FAT32.   If it's 8GB then the only format choice if FAT32.  Those are the only operations I can do in WinXP.

UI COLOR SHIFT 1 of 2

Put these 4 PNGs in a folder and page 1 frame/sec and you will know what I am experiencing here.

Makes sense.  By definition FAT16 is limited to a 4G partition.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310561
