i'm stumped. i have tried to get an 8 gb SDHC card, formatted with a small (2MB) partition FAT12 or FAT16, and a large partition FAT32 to work properly.
i have tried this in an SD450, SD1100, and SD1400 (yes, i know that build is alpha) with the same results.
i have used sdinste.exe on a windows machine to prepare and format both partitions (switching partitions as necessary).
i have unpacked the proper CHDK version to both the small and large partitions (switching partitions as necessry).
i have tried several permutations (using sdminst.exe to swap partitions as necessary, then set the small partition as bootable):
1) CHDK folder and both boot files (diskboot.bin and ps.fir/ps.fi2) to both partitions
2) boot files only on small (boot) partition and CHDK folder only on large partition
3) CHDK folder and boot files on small partition and CHDK folder only on large partition
in all cases, on all 3 cameras (with their respective CHDK builds and boot files), CHDK boots properly, but i get the "memory card full" message from the camera software.
i have no idea how to tell the camera to use the large partition for picture storage.
i also have access to a mac, and i have sdm installed on that machine. i've used the windows version because it is more straightforward. i am not very familiar with linux, so i have not tried any of the linux SDHC card prep guides i found in the archives.
note: creating a 3.98Gb partition on the 8gb card, then formatting it to FAT16, then unpacking the build and setting the partition as bootable works fine, so i assume my workflow to set up the card is correct.
thanks in advance for any suggestions.

edit: sorry--i searched before posting this but missed one of the other recent posts. i see in another post that someone said SDHC/2 partitions isn't supported in the SD1100. if that is the case perhaps it's also not supported in the SD450 or the SD1400.
