firmware repair, possible?

can i restore firmware if it get's corrupted?

(like my phone got a "white screen of death" half year ago, for example... so i reflashed firmware with some free tools and data cable)
it wold be nice a repair/reflash tool for our cameras...

btw, had anyone here problems with original firmware?(like crashing, locking, corrupted graphics)

i knew that chdk is pretty safe...
only who knows...  i'm pessimist :)

i'm happy to see those numbers:)
and nice to see that there are no problems with the flash memory used in canon devices...
(where did you get these statistics?)
