I'm attempting to learn: The best 'high' level chdk description i've [quickly] come across follows - the wiki & forum is chock full of info [great]. However, are there any 'consolidated lower level' descriptions that describe 'how' chdk works ? [if 'G' can't find it, i'm not confident :(]:
Outside of the source, no. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Adding_support_for_a_new_camera page does cover quite a bit, but it is somewhat out of date.

If you need to do something that requires this level of understanding, you almost certainly need to learn your way around the source anyway, so you may as well start on that right away rather than reading some outdated documentation ;)

If you have specific questions, or would like suggestions of where to look to understand a particular area, there are some people here who would be happy to provide pointers.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

That's for sure...in an ideal world all forums would have such helpful 'guru ' members.

Yes, this is a known issue. ...........
Adding the ability to detect when a connection is in use and not reset it is on my TODO list.

Based on some of your notes I guess my primary school picture, attached, is not a particularly sound basis to meditate upon ?

Up Date of Usb-Diagram(v3) and Usb-Diagram(v3)Lp; ref Post #36

1/ Termination Resistor "Plugs Into" spare USB-Hub port.

2/ Instead of "Hub-Hacking" the alternative is to "USB-Cable" hack.

This may be better and cheaper, option, in some circumstances

An UpDated way of doing some thing similar to:-

".....Setup for CHDK matrix bullet-time rig with Powershot A450 and A460 cameras
« on: 22 / August / 2009, 11:59:08 ..."

http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4103.msg38360#msg38360

".... started to document this project ..... website...."

http://www.mishra.tv/wordpress/?p=40

Also a UpDated way of doing some thing similar to:-

Mark Ruff's "360 Degree Camera Array"

60 Cameras are used and about 1000 frames are then derived from the original 60.

http://www.timesplice.com.au/360-camera-array.html

UpDates:-

1/ Lead-In and Lead-Out HD-Video using "Live-View" Video 3D-Sync with Canon PS HD-Video Cameras.

2/ "Hacked-USB Hubs" sequentially switched via a 6 bit data bus.
USB-Remote camera is decoded via 1 of 10 Decimal Decoder chip and Exclusive OR gate,
      for a 10 Port USB-Hub.

3/ There can be no delay between cameras or a "Small" variable delay synced to the "Live-View", video,     3D-Sync.

".... started to document this project on my website...."

I do not see any new information.

It is a few years since we were last in contact, when you were known as 'zcream'.

Glad to see the project has been resurrected (or awakened from its sleep).

David,

I am now thinking of a totaly different "Project" but similar to 'Zcream's' in that there is a, very, small delay
between, the synced video cameras.

So this would be best continued back at sync'ing 3D video.

The basic "Project" idea is to have a ring of 10 or more, 240 fps Ixus cameras, synced to a Master 240 fps Ixus camera.
The Live View Sync Clock from the master is then Multiplied by 10 by a phase locked loop and used to trigger the slaves at
1.1x, 1.2x......etc, to acheive a effective frame rate of 2400X.

Is there a SDM 1.86 (Beta) release currently available so I can start porting to the Ixus 115 and Ixus 125,
or should I wait for the offical release.

thanks

I should finish  coding today, after the SX240hs port has been tested.
I then need to update the documentation and get this released and off my back as soon as possible.
Apart from anything else, I am looking forward to ripping-out what I consider excess baggage.

One of the first things I could do is give you a test build for the above cameras to see if they are suitable for movie synch.
So far, the IXUS70 is the only one not suitable, for unknown reasons.

David
