I've downloaded the last stable version of the CHDK kit for my IXUS 230 HS
But I cannot make out where the ALT button is -- is there a documentation note I missed ?
I am really keen to see if it can do motion detection capture plus time lapse stuff.

In current CHDK builds (stable or trunk), the 'alt' button on sx230 should default to the 'play' button. Once you manage to get the chdk menu open, you can change it.

Some older builds used different buttons.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Every CHDK equipped Canon P&S camera can do that.   But you need to take the time to understand how those functions work and be prepared to fiddle with things a bit.  Like the name says - hacking.

Looking the source code of trunk version, IXUS 230 is using the Video button as default.

This week I posted a patch for IXUS 230 100a, and to follow the standard, I change it to PLAYBACK [>] button.  Display and Video are the configurable options.

edit
Now playback should work :) . Please report to IXUS 230 porting thread if any bug detected.
The 100a code has been checked in, and should appear on the autobuilds within the next hour or so.
