SX130iS help please

Okay. My goal is to shoot in RAW and I had a bunch of trouble with my SX120iS, so I managed to sell it, and get a SX130iS for just a few dollars more.

Now the problem...when I run ver.req it says my firmware is 1.00B which is the same as my SX120, and is not listed under the SX130 CHDK software options. What gives??

There has not been a version 1.00b reported by anyone else so nobody has ported for that version.

While its possible you have a new version never seen before,  I'm guessing you used the SD card from your SX120 to check your version number in your SX130 and that might be causing the problem ?

In any case,  try confirming your firmware version using this instead :  http://www.zenoshrdlu.com/acid/acid.html

There's an official Canon firmware update for the SX130, can be found on this page.

@srsa_4C :  nice catch - thanks !   Do you have any more info on what version(s) of the sx130 this works for and what the result of the update is ?   The Canon page doesn't seem to show it and I could not find it with a forum search.

I'll update the sx130 wiki page once I know that (which is were I'd looked before I posted my reply to the OP).

According to this the update is 1.01c, and it obviously should work for cameras with the earlier fw revisions. There are more references in that porting thread, I just picked one.

I guess we just assume then that anything earlier than 1.01C can be updated to that version.  I changed the wiki page to make that more obvious - there was actually an obscure link there already.

Okay, I figured it out. I went to Canons site, download their firmware upgrade package, got my camera to 1.01C, downloaded the appropriate file and successfully installed CHDK!

Now my question is, how do I turn on RAW? Both the "User Guide" PDFs stickied are invalid links.

Is there a current user manual?

Whch stickies ?  Please provide a link so that they can be corrected.

These are not always current but they are what there is :

This will get worse when the new UI version of CHDK is released.

You found those links in a very old post on this forum (so old that the dropio link now points to wlessin (founder of dropio who now works at facebook)  - if you're looking for CHDK manuals then don't look in this fourm - look in the CHDK Wiki here - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
