Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, none of the proposed scripts helped.

So I took out my trusty soldering iron and hard wired the button. Works perfect and I can get even faster than 1fps! (not shooting at full quality and resolution).

Of course I have 1 screw left over  :lol

Is it possible to make the camera work like normal, but have a script running to write a log file? That way I have a txt file that has all the date/time stamps of every picture.

FWIW - my old "Fast Shooter" script from 2010:

http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/User:Fe50#fast_shooter

Using a fast camera mode (e.g. "ISO3200" scene mode on the SX10) with its reduced image size / quality this will give the highest possible pps rate.
Of course it's also possible to use CHDK overrides, e.g. ISO or "force flash on" which gives you 3-4 fps/s with flash (weak) on the SX10...  ;)
