I have a Manfrotto 785B, the cheapest Manfrotto option, 50 euros. It is not very sturdy but it does well with my heavy S3 with lens converter and filter. It's 43.5cm long and fits INSIDE my small backpack.
You know what they say: A weak tripod on the field is better than the sturdy one you leave at home.
