I am not an experienced user and I do not know how to test the USB remote sync. Is there any good place to learn about it?
Sorry - trying to do too many things at once today.  That question was for sx260 users - the other port I'm fiddling with today.   Please ignore my question.

Most part looks better but some part becomes colorful on my sx50hs(1.00c).
Updated the builds to fix this.  All the Canon colors seem to be okay now - can't find anywhere that this causes color problems but that's not to say its impossible

Latest builds here >

link > sx50hs firmware 1.00C

You might have to delete the CCHDK3.CFG file from your SD card if you get grey washed out menus rather than nice crisp ones with a blue cursor.

SD Card Lock Autoboot only for booting.

There have been 44 downloads of the CHDK packages I posted above.

And zero feedback.

I won't get the camera I use back for a couple of weeks.  So no testing by me for a while.

Unless a few people post what they have tested here - or at least post that the sx50 build you downloaded works for you - I won't recommend moving this camera into formal release status.

Sign .. once again.   Please take the 2 minutes to post what you've seen.

I checked the colors on my 100b camera with your latest build and they appear correct. As you said, I had to delete CCHDK3.CFG to get the correct menu colors, with blue cursor and dark grey background. The battery indicator is green as it should be.

You said it only worked with firmware update, but I also tested it with autoboot and the colors seem correct too.

Do you need any other tests? Sorry, but I was a little sidetracked by my weekend snowshoe camping trip and processing the 20,000+ pictures I ended up with.  :-[ Thanks again for helping with the camera.

The lens in the SX50 is quite a machine. Here are a zoomed out, and a zoomed in, hand held shot of Mt. Washington in the Oregon Cascades:

Use mine for mainly  DoF bracketing for stacked macros, and all is working Ok. Not found any issue so far. Also had to delete the config file as suggested. Have been using autoboot rather than "firmware upgrade"and that seems to work OK

so I see no reason not to put it into formal release

using your latest "sx50hs firmware 1.00B"

@lapser, @bojobas :  thanks for the replies.   Or course the comment about "Firmware Update booting only" was a mistake - its the other way around.  The files I posted only support "SD Card Lock Autoboot".   I wonder what the other 42 people who downloaded the code did :)

Meanwhile,  I had checked RAW/DNG on the sx50 I had and they work properly.  I also exercised the USB remote functionality (including sync and sync delay).

If there are no more complaints this week I'm going to recommend releasing this with Beta status.

You need the one that matches the firmware version in your camera.  Use this : ACID.

You might want to read this :
How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

and you definitely need to read through this :Prepare_your_SD_card

I am very sorry for my late reply. I have checked the colors using trunk-2652 on 1.00c and it was OK. I thought my result is redundant. I always appreciate your great contributions.

No problem - I'm pretty sure we have the colors working well now.

- I'm not sure if power-up button patch is correct
- Video quality override does not work
- Extended video time is implemented in code, but I'm not sure if it was tested.
- There are two modemap entries with problems. One of them seems to be hidden, with the other one camera crashes. See comments in shooting.c
- stubs_entry_2.S cleanup.
That just leaves the above list to be checked and I think we are "good to go" unless anyone else finds something.
