I am trying to shoot raw images with a Powershot A3000IS, but for each shot the camera only creates an empty folder instead of saving a raw file. Did anybody run into a problem like this before, or did I miss something?

Are you looking at the SD card directly in your PC or over a USB link using Canon software ?   If its the later,  the Canon software may not be letting you see the RAW files - try inserting the card into a card reader on your PC.

Looking at the SD card directly (taken out of the camera and put into my laptop).

The jpg images are saved correctly, but instead of the raw images, the directory contains empty directories. When, for example, taking a picture with the name  IMG_0133.JPG, an empty directory is created with the name ETC_0133.TMP.
