Is there anyway to map out bad pixels that are dark for newer cameras (SX230HS)

For my Powershot SX230HS there are a few dark pixels that the badpixel bin file doesn't seem to take care of.

I also heard of a badpixel tool that will create a supplemental file to take care of any additional pixels but am unable to file it, but from what I remember, it only looked for hot pixels.

Is there a way to manually map out dark pixels and add them to the bad pixel file. (also when it specifies the pixels, is it based on the lens corrected and cropped image that the camera runs on, or is it based on the full raw output where the image is of a higher resolution?

This might provide some insight :  Bad Pixel Removal

One of the links there gets you to this : CHDK_User_Manual#Bad_pixel_removal which will apparently describes how you can declare dead pixels (in addition to hot pixels) as bad.

seems the download links are not working.

the show_bad_b tool seems interesting but I am not sure if it offers the option to basically tell it an exact pixel to consider bad, instead it seems to use the bad pixel list that comes with the camera.

For my old powershot a560, I had an additional bad pixel file (on its SD card, the numbers are)

1767,1198=1023
1356,1242=71
2937,1788=75
2648,1981=1023
2649,1981=1023
2650,1981=187


I was basically trying to make something similar for the SX230HS

PS if anyone has any of the newer badpixel removal tools such as show_bad_b that is listed on that page, can you upload it a site like mediafire or any other file host?

edit: here is how the bad pixel looks (there are 5 of them and they remain regardless of which bad pixel bin I use, (eg increasing the ISO will cause a larger bad pixel number to be used and even with the highest number bad pixel count used, those same bad pixels remain.

I saw something about that yesterday.   Seems like people were downloading too many old archived versions.  Why in the world they would want to do that I don't know - probably a case of not doing a RTFM and just randomly looking for CHDK stuff.

It's supposed to reset at the end of the month.   Which doesn't help you much now I guess.

I wonder, has anyone made a tool that can edit the badpixel.bin file to add additional bad pixels if you know where the pixels are located on an uncorrected raw file?

for example, one of the bad pixels is located at
X 2496, Y 1063
